Get Your Fleece Jacket at the “Home & Away with Mapletree” Roadshow

SINGAPORE – From 28 to 30 July, Mapletree Investments Pte Ltd (“Mapletree” or the “Group”) will giveaway fleece jackets to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents currently studying in, or proceeding to a university or college in the United Kingdom (UK) for tertiary education. Held at VivoCity Singapore, the three-day roadshow is one of the Group’s first student outreach since its maiden entry into the UK’s student housing asset class in 2016.

Students can register online to reserve now, and collect their jacket at VivoCity Singapore, West Boulevard Level 1 (in front of Desigual and Lacoste stores) between 11:00am to 9:00pm at the roadshow. Reservation of the fleece jacket is on a first come, first serve basis while stock last.

Mr Chua Tiow Chye, Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer of Mapletree said, “With the healthy demand for higher education globally and the quality of academic institutions in the UK and the United States (US), we entered into the student housing market in the year 2016. Since then, we have scaled-up through a number of sizeable acquisitions in these growth markets. This roadshow is not only in support of Mapletree’s continued Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, it also gives students and their families some insights into student living in the UK, as well as our quality student accommodation portfolio.”

Mapletree currently owns and manages a portfolio of 26 student accommodation properties, with more than 6,500 beds, across 13 core university towns such as London, Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leicester and Liverpool. With more than 90% of the properties strategically located within 1.5 km radius to prominent universities, these properties are well-equipped with an array of amenities and living spaces for holistic student living. The properties also offer modern layouts with myriad options including studio, deluxe and en-suite for every student’s budget.

Education is one of Mapletree’s CSR key pillars which seek to build long-term relationships with its community, empower individuals and enrich communities. To date, Mapletree has contributed S$3 million to the endowment funds of all six Singapore universities, and currently offers financial support to over 90 university students annually. This has also been expanded to support students pursuing practice-oriented education at SIM University (now known as Singapore University of Social Sciences) which commenced in 2016.

In 2015, the Mapletree Academic Achievement Programme (MAAP) was launched to recognise academic excellence. With more academically outstanding students pursing practice-oriented education, MAAP’s maiden initiative is the five-year sponsorship of select diploma graduation book prizes across all five local polytechnics starting from Academic Year (AY) 15/16. The MAAP has also committed to sponsor 30 graduation prizes for the Diploma programmes of SIM Global Education (SIM GE) annually for a period of five years from AY16/17.
