SINGAPORE – Mapletree Investments Pte Ltd (“Mapletree” or “the Group”) is pleased to announce that it is launching a digital series, “Mapletree Arts in the City on Air”, to liven up the circuit breaker period, and pay tribute to the efforts of frontline workers.
From 7 May 2020, well-loved singers, song-writers and dancers will be bringing virtual performances and tutorials from their home to the viewer’s screen during the circuit breaker period. A variety of performances ranging from music to dance and even parody will be released for audiences to enjoy, or pick up a new skill every Thursday and Saturday, on the Mapletree Arts in the City YouTube channel at 7.00pm for an initial period of two months.
Mr Edmund Cheng, Mapletree’s Chairman said, “As a strong supporter of the arts, and as part of our corporate social responsibility efforts, it is important for us to continue providing an avenue for Singapore artists to hone their craft, in this battle against the pandemic. At the same time, by bringing it online, we hope Mapletree Arts in the City on Air can bring cheer to everyone at home, and especially to our frontline workers.”
Mapletree Arts in the City on Air will feature talented artists from Singapore, such as the singer-musician duo, ShiLi & Adi who will be performing a medley and covers of popular tunes, as well as award-winning dance couple, ScRach MarcS who are going to show us how to pick up a few moves at home. Audiences can also look forward to an evening of laughs, courtesy of parodies written and performed by actress and comedy firecracker, Jo Tan. Stringanza brings its unique renditions of classic hits with their eclectic blend of Chinese two-stringed fiddles and the Western cello.
The new series is an extension of Mapletree Arts in the City, which has been providing an offline platform for local arts and performing groups since 2013. The platform seeks to bring the arts closer to the working community through quarterly lunch time performances at its flagship property, Mapletree Business City.
