Singapore – Mapletree Investments Pte Ltd (“Mapletree” or “the Group”) is pleased to announce that its signature development Mapletree Business City (“MBC”) has added two more awards accolades to its growing list of accolades. The first was conferred the Federation Internationale des Administrateurs de Bien-Conselis Immobiliers (FIABCI) Singapore Property Awards 2011 in the Sustainable Development Category. In addition, MBC was also conferred the Merit award by the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) and National Parks Board (NParks) for the Skyrise Greenery Awards 2011 at an award ceremony on Tuesday, 3 October 2011.
Commending MBC’s latest triumphs, Mr. Hiew Yoon Khong, Group Chief Executive Officer of Mapletree said, “The FIABCI Singapore Property award for Sustainable Development is an acknowledgement of Mapletree’s efforts in conceiving Mapletree Business City as an environmentally-friendly business development for the modern corporation. The award also reinforces Mapletree’s capabilities in, and commitment towards, investing in cutting-edge technologies, green designs and environmentally-friendly building maintenance procedures, which will translate into long term benefits for our internal and external stakeholders. ”
“We are also very pleased that Mapletree Business City has been conferred a Merit award at the recent Singapore Institute of Architects – NParks Skyrise Greenery Award 2011. This achievement recognises Mapletree’s efforts in incorporating extensive landscaping at Mapletree Business City to improve its aesthetics and reduce the urban island heat effect and indirectly, the carbon footprint at this development,” Mr Hiew added.
FIABCI is a non-profit, international federation comprising 120 professional real estate organisations in 60 countries. Nominees in the FIABCI Singapore Sustainable Development Category were assessed on the development’s energy saving features, natural lighting capacity and conservation or harvesting of rain water for use.
In conferring the award to MBC, the jury for the FIABCI Singapore Property awards cited its design, lush landscaping and innovative green features: “The design creates an integrated business park development incorporating innovative green technologies. There is extensive use of terracing and cascading planters creating a conducive ambience for the working environment. Ample green features were introduced including a district cooling system, green roof, and rain water harvesting system as well as incorporating innovative swimming pool heating harnessing waste heat from condenser water.”
As one of three winners in the FIABCI Singapore Property Awards 2011 Sustainable Development Category, MBC has qualified for the international 2012 Prix d’Excellence Awards at the FIABCI 63rd World Congress to be held in St. Petersburg, Russia in May 2012.
