• More than 30 beneficiaries from countries in which the Group operates have received Mapletree’s mask donation

SINGAPORE – Mapletree Investments Pte Ltd (“Mapletree” or “the Group”) is pleased to donate over 2 million disposable medical masks to assist various frontline agencies in the battle against Covid-19, and to help alleviate the mask shortage situation in countries that it operates in. The Group has distributed masks to more than 30 beneficiaries nominated by the Mapletree offices globally, ranging from medical workers including those in healthcare, nursing homes, and law enforcement, as well as community caregivers for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children and underprivileged.

The Group’s distribution covered Singapore; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Sydney, Australia; Hong Kong SAR; Bengaluru and Chennai, India; Reading, Cambridge and Kent, the United Kingdom (UK) and  New York and Los Angeles, the United States (US).

Mapletree’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr Hiew Yoon Khong, said, “Covid-19 is a pandemic, and as a global company with a strong focus on corporate social responsibility, we strive to extend support to the communities in the markets where we have a presence. Our effort to donate masks to the local frontline workers and community caregivers in those countries conveys our commitment to assist them in their fight against the virus.”

The beneficiaries have received 3-ply and CE certified disposable medical masks. In Malaysia, 400,800 masks were distributed through The Edge Covid-19 Equipment Fund. In the UK, the campaign was through Reading Borough Council, and in the US through the Mayoral Offices of New York and Los Angeles, which received 252,000 masks each.

Mr Hiew added, “We are happy to partner with various organisations aligned to the same goal to distribute the masks to where they are needed most.”

In Singapore, the masks were distributed directly to foreign workers housed in isolation areas under the care of National University Hospital (NUH), ancillary medical staff at Singapore General Hospital (SGH), Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) as well as selected sheltered homes for the aged and youths, and a community hospital.

“NUH first received support from Mapletree when it provided bento lunch boxes to our frontline healthcare workers. We are happy to receive masks on behalf of the foreign workers under our care, and hope to continue working with similar organisations,” said NUH Chief Operating Officer, Ms Clara Sin.

“We would like to thank Mapletree for the kind donation of masks to our ancillary staff at TTSH and NCID. We are grateful for the support of our corporate partners who stand united with us in the fight against Covid-19,” said Ms Loh Shu Ching, Executive Director, Division for Central Health, TTSH and Co-Chair of the TTSH Staff Wellness Committee.
