Mapletree Donates S$1 million to Support Vietnam’s Battle Against Covid-19

SINGAPORE – Mapletree Investments Pte Ltd (“Mapletree” or “the Group”) is pleased to announce its donation of S$1 million (~VND17.3 billion or ~US$750,000)1 to the Vietnam Fund for Vaccination and Prevention of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (“Vietnam Covid-19 Fund”). In solidarity with the Vietnamese community, the donation will help fund the acquisition of Covid-19 vaccines. 

Ms Amy Ng Lee Hoon, Regional Chief Executive Officer of South East Asia & Group Retail, Mapletree said, “Mapletree believes in giving back to the communities in the markets which we operate. In over 15 years of presence in Vietnam, we have consistently supported the community through donations for local causes, as well as corporate social responsibility (“CSR”) activities initiated by our staff. Aligned to our CSR pillar of healthcare, we hope that this donation will play a role in protecting the health of frontliners and the community in Vietnam.”

Mapletree has supported the Vietnam community since 2011 to provide health cards for the less fortunate in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2017, the Group donated 20 wheelchairs to Thuy An Centre for Nurturing Old People and Disabled Children. The Mapletree Vietnam team have also been active and regular participants in the Group’s annual Staff CSR programme since 2018. As part of the international business community in Vietnam, the Group will remain a strong supporter of public health programmes in Vietnam’s efforts against Covid-19.

Mapletree’s CSR programme aims to empower individuals through education and healthcare; as well as enrich communities through the arts and environment. To date, the Group has disbursed more than S$20 million to fund CSR causes in markets where we have a presence.

As at 31 March 2021, Mapletree has S$1.4 billion of assets under management in Vietnam. This includes logistics, mixed-use, office, residential, retail and serviced apartment properties in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, as well as Bac Ninh, Hung Yen and Binh Duong province.
