China, Tianjin – Mapletree Investments Pte Ltd (Mapletree), a leading Asia focused real estate and capital Management Company, is pleased to announce the opening of its Mapletree (Tianjin) Airport Logistics Park. This marks Mapletree’s second logistics facility in Tianjin. The first was its Tianjin Port Hai Feng Bonded Logistics Park, a joint venture with the Tianjin Port Group that was completed in 2008. With the opening of this second logistics facility in Tianjin, Mapletree now has 10 logistics facilities in China.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Mapletree (Tianjin) Airport Logistics Park, Mr. Paul Ma, Board Member of Mapletree, said: “Tianjin occupies a strategic location at the centre of the Bohai Rim Economic Circle. As such, it drives the development of its neighbouring regions to become an international commercial district just like Pudong New Area. As one of the four national central cities in China, its GDP growth rate ranks the second highest nationwide in year 2009 at 16.5% on a y-o-y basis and its manufacturing sector was the largest and fastest-growing sector of Tianjin’s economy.”
He added, “The opening of our second logistics park in Tianjin underscores the importance of Tianjin as a logistics hub and gateway to Northern China, servicing Beijing, Hebei province, Shanxi province, Neimeng province and a part of Shandong province. With this project in Tianjin, we hope to grow with Tianjin to open more doors for us to do more in Northern China.”
