- Fourth successful edition of the Mapletree Futsal Challenge raised $11,102 for Mapletree’s youth beneficiaries
SINGAPORE – More than 90 Mapletree Group employees and tenants interacted by participating in the fourth edition of the Mapletree Futsal Challenge, and raised $11,102 for Mapletree’s youth beneficiaries, Beyond Social Services and Boys’ Town.
Organised by Mapletree and held at Mapletree Business City’s futsal courts, the two-day Challenge took place on 13 and 20 October 2022. Opened to all Mapletree employees and tenants, the Challenge drew participation from companies such as beIN Sports, BW Offshore Singapore Pte Ltd, Crédit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank, Infocomm Media Development Authority and Google Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. Each company pledged a minimum donation of $500 per team to participate and Mapletree matched the donations dollar-for-dollar. A team from the Singapore Management University also participated.
“The Mapletree Futsal Challenge serves as a collaborative platform for our tenants and our employees to come together to interact and engage with each other. In addition, it is also a platform for us to support the youth programmes of Mapletree’s long-time beneficiaries, Beyond Social Services and Boys’ Town. I am glad to see that we can resume this Corporate Social Responsibility effort, and thankful to our like-minded tenants and staff for their enthusiastic support. The funds will bring positive impact to the youths and helping the less advantaged families,” said Mr Edmund Cheng, Mapletree’s Chairman.
“Today, my colleagues and I had a great time playing against the other participants. It was meaningful to us as we managed to bond as a team while knowing that we have contributed to a good cause to support youths. Hopefully, we will be able to participate again next year,” said Mr Aboobakar Sidick, DC Systems Coordinator from BW Offshore Singapore Pte Ltd.
The Mapletree Futsal Challenge is part of the Group’s ongoing efforts to support youths from less privileged backgrounds, which include the Mapletree Youth Resilience Programme (MYRP). Established in 2016, MYRP aims to provide financial support for youths with potential and drive to pursue an education despite their circumstances. As of 31 March 2022, the MYRP has committed over S$340,000 of financial support for more than 50 youths across various local social services agencies and educational institutions.
